Overview of Bridgnorth

Bridgnorth is located 83.5 miles from Manchester Airport and should take around 1 hour and 39 minutes to get there by taxi. Bridgnorth is a town in Shropshire, England, along the Severn Valley. It is split into High Town and Low Town, named on account of their elevations relative to the River Severn, which separates the upper town on the right bank from the lower on the left . According to the 2001 UK census, Bridgnorth had a population of 11,891.

Bridgnorth is home to a funicular railway that links the high and low towns, the Castle Hill Railway, which is the steepest and only inland railway of its type in the country. The ruins of Bridgnorth Castle, built in 1101, are present in the town. Due to damage caused during the English Civil War, the castle is inclined at an angle of 15 degrees. The Low Town was once a thriving port along the banks of the River Severn, while the High Town held the castle, the churches, and many fine 16th and 17th century mansions.

Bridgnorth has many attractions to visit, including its funicular railway, castle ruins, the Royal air force Museum and several listed buildings and churches..
